Ingredients to make beef tofu:
Bottom layer
- 3 eggs
- 1 silky tofu
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp sugar
- ½ tsp pepper
- 1 tbsp minced garlic and shallot
Steam the mixture for 15 mins
Top layer
- Cooking oil
- 1 tbsp minced garlic and shallot
- 1 lb of ground beef or ground pork (20% fat)
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp of oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 2 tbsp of sriracha
- ¾ cup water
- Cornstarch slurry
Garnishing
- Chopped green onion
- Chop red chili
How to make ground beef tofu
- Start by making the bottom layer. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, tofu, soy sauce, sugar, and pepper.
- Place the mixture into a deep plate and steam for 15 minutes, or until set.
- While the tofu is steaming, heat the cooking oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the garlic and shallot and cook until fragrant.
- Add the ground beef and cook until browned.
- Add water, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and sriracha, and continue cooking for 3 – 5 minutes.
- Slowly add cornstarch slurry until the meat thickens.
- Pour the meat on the tofu and garnish with chopped green onion, and red chili.
