Ground Beef Tofu

Ground Beef Tofu

Ingredients to make beef tofu:

Bottom layer

  • 3 eggs 
  • 1 silky tofu 
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic and shallot

Steam the mixture for 15 mins

Top layer

  • Cooking oil 
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic and shallot
  • 1 lb of ground beef or ground pork (20% fat)
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce 
  • 2 tbsp of oyster sauce 
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp of sriracha 
  • ¾ cup water 
  • Cornstarch slurry 

Garnishing 

  • Chopped green onion
  • Chop red chili 

How to make ground beef tofu

  1. Start by making the bottom layer. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, tofu, soy sauce, sugar, and pepper.
  2. Place the mixture into a deep plate and steam for 15 minutes, or until set.
  3. While the tofu is steaming, heat the cooking oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the garlic and shallot and cook until fragrant.
  4. Add the ground beef and cook until browned.
  5. Add water, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and sriracha, and continue cooking for 3 – 5 minutes.
  6. Slowly add cornstarch slurry until the meat thickens.
  7. Pour the meat on the tofu and garnish with chopped green onion, and red chili.
