Ingredients for caramel pork

  • 1.5 lb pork belly
  • 1 can of beer
  • minced shallot
  • minced garlic
  • sliced ginger 
  • red chili
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp fish sauce
  • ½ tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp sriracha
  • 1 tbsp caramel sauce

How to make caramel pork belly

  • Cut the meat into smaller pieces and sear them for 5-6 minutes until crispy. Set aside.
  • In the same pan, saute the shallot and garlic until golden brown.
  • Add beer, oyster sauce, dark soy sauce, fish sauce, and sriracha, and mix well.
  • Add the pork, ginger, red chili, and caramel sauce.
  • Slow cook for 30-45 minutes until the pork is tender. 
  • Serve and enjoy!

How to make caramel sauce

  • Heat up a pan on high heat, 
  • Add white sugar and wait for it to caramelize (sugar turns to golden brown), 
  • Lower the heat to medium, and continue caramelizing the sugar until it turns dark brown, then add water.
