For the Salmon: 2 salmon fillets medium-size 2 tbsp oil 1 tsp garlic powder 1/2 tsp black pepper 1/2 tsp paprika For the Sauce: 2 tbsp vinegar 3 tbsp soy sauce 1 tbsp dark soy sauce 3 tbsp honey 1 tsp ginger powder For Garnishing: Fresh chives chopped 1 tsp sesame oil 1 tbsp sesame seeds
Prepare the Salmon: Pat the salmon fillets dry with a paper towel. This helps achieve a crispier sear.
Season the fillets on both sides with garlic powder, black pepper, and paprika.
Sear the Salmon: Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Place the salmon fillets skin side down in the skillet. Sear for about 4-5 minutes, or until the skin is crispy and golden brown.
Flip the salmon and cook for another 2-3 minutes, depending on your preferred level of doneness.
Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix together the vinegar, soy sauce, dark soy sauce, honey, and ginger powder.
Combine and Finish: Pour the sauce mixture into the skillet with the salmon still in it.
Let it simmer for about 3-4 minutes, or until it begins to thicken. Be careful not to let it reduce too much.
Spoon some of the sauce over the salmon and let it cook for an additional 1-2 minutes so the flavors meld together.
Turn off the heat and drizzle the sesame oil over the salmon. Swirl the pan to coat the fillets in the sauce.
